Install Claude Code mods

Mods are Claude Code plugins. You add the modmyclaude marketplace once, then install any mod with one line. The marketplace, install and reload slash commands run inside Claude Code, not in your shell.

Before you start

Use Claude Code 2.1.287 or later for these mods. They draw in the terminal and in the Code tab of the Claude Desktop app. In the VS Code extension's chat panel, a mod's hooks still run, but its panes and bands do not show.

Steps

  1. Check your version

Check in the place you use mods. In your shell, run claude --version. In the Desktop app, open a local session in the Code tab and enter /status, then read the Claude Code row. If the version is older than 2.1.287, update first.

  2. Add the marketplace

    You only do this once.

    /plugin marketplace add modmyclaude/claude-code-mods
  3. Choose a mod

Browse the catalogue. Each mod page lists its commands, settings and what it can touch.

  4. Install it

Replace the name with the mod you picked. The mod's page shows how to use it.

    /plugin install ant-farm@modmyclaude

Two good first mods

Questions

Is it free?
Yes. The mod code is MIT licensed and free to use. What you pay for Claude Code itself follows your own setup: a Claude plan or API billing.
What can a mod touch?
Each mod page shows what Claude Code's validator reports: files, commands, network, model calls, sound and hooks. Mods run with your permissions, so treat that report as a guide, not a sandbox. The source is on GitHub if you want to read it.
Claude Code says the plugin is not found
Check that you added the marketplace with the command above, that the mod name is spelled as on its page, and that Claude Code is 2.1.287 or later.
It installed but I do not see it
Make sure you are in the terminal or the Desktop app's Code tab, not the VS Code chat panel. Open /plugin to confirm the mod is installed and enabled. If you installed or updated it from your shell while a session was open, run /reload-plugins in that session.
